Second Corinthians

Second Corinthians
The Genre of this book is an epistle.  The key theme of this book is an explanation of the responsibilities of the church leaders. It also covers how a believer is to apply the good news to their life. This book explains how through sin people are out of harmony with God. That God dealt with the problem by taking the sin upon him at the cross. Through Christ we are restored to a relationship with Christ. We are urged to be reconciled to God. This relationship is a lifelong commitment that applies loyalty to the good news. The key characters and events are as follows. Paul tells of his concerns as a pastor. He tells of his desire to win people to Christ.  He wants others to be reconciled to Christ. During this time there were many false apostle teaching false doctrine. Paul faced criticism and accusations for the very people that he had led to God, due to the teachings of the false apostles. They were questing the leadership of Paul in the church. In part of these letters he defends himself.  Paul clarifies and defines what Christian service is. That the good news gives life in the Sprit, and replaces the religion of the old covenant. That through God son we are reconciled to God. That God alone is perfect and he uses imperfect people to bring his message to all. To look to God not him due to his imperfect nature.  Paul also urges the people to give to the need of others and tithe. He reminds us of the sacrifices that Jesus suffered for us and gives us that as a module for our giving.
