The Genre of this book is gospel and a historical narrative. The key theme of the book is; Jesus significance in God’s plan to redeem humanity. That God equips people with the Holy Spirit to tell others about the good news. That God offers grace and forgiveness to all through the person of Jesus Christ. That if you believe in Jesus you will be saved. The key theme and characters are as follows.  We hear of two disciples Peter and Paul who help spread the good news of Jesus from Jerusalem throughout the Mediterranean world. Luke writes of a message of redemption and grace in the person of Jesus Christ, for Jew and Gentile alike. We hear of the great commission where people are inspired by the Holy Spirit to carry on the work of Jesus spreading the good news. We are introduced to some key figures in the Christian movement Peter, Stephen, James, Barnbus and Paul. Stephen the first Christian martyr who boldly defended his faith, and loses his life.  Barnabas the great encourager, who was known for his great acts of kindness, towards the poor.  Philip a strong evangelist, full of the Holy Spirit, who was known for being one of the first people to take the message of the good news outside the borders of Judaism. Paul the leading persecutor of Christ, who later did more for Christianity, than any other apostle. James Jesus brother, who continued Jesus ministry after his death. Timothy the timid apostle.  Luke the physician turned missionary for God.  These men full of the Holy Spirit carried the great commission all the way from Jerusalem to Rome. They fought persecution, martyrdom, and many trails to spread the message of Jesus. This book also tells us how the Christian church came to be and Jews and Gentiles came together.
