The great commision

Often I believe as members of the body of Christ we forget why the church was created by God. The purpose was the great commission. In the day of Pentecost, power from heaven came down. The power of God turned despairing doubters into dynamic disciples for Christ. The believers became full of the power of the Holy Spirit. They did not receive this power so they could feel good about themselves. They received the power of the Holy Spirit to energize them to be witnesses for Jesus Christ in secular society. The power of the Holy Spirit was for the disciples to reach out and touch human needs and share the liberating truth of the Gospel of Christ.

As Christians we have remember that each member of the Church was placed there by God. When the members of the Church focus on things of this world, such as how members dress, sing, their position in the church they are not focusing on God. When the Church focus on worldly things and not God, the secular world sees the body of Christ as a judgmental society of self- righteous hypocrites the church is the last place they want to go. The Holy Spirit has given us the power to touch people’s lives with the presence of the living God; power to reach out to people and lift them up out of their tragic circumstances and give them hope and healing, friendship and fellowship.
