God's sovereign control over history

If I had to find one explanation for the fall of Rome, I personally would have to take the approach of Aristotle and ask perhaps if the question itself is flawed. When ask if Rome fell do you mean the people, the empire, or the politics? The Eastern Empire stood for a millennium after 476 the supposed fall of Rome. That almost as long as classical Rome. The politics in Rome were notorious for violent drastic upheaval throughout its history, and Rome’s politics continued on after 476. The Roman people did not die they are known as the Italians today. Western languages, laws, religious customs are in some way fundamentally Roman. By all fair standards we are modern Romans. Until all traces of Roman civilization are extinguished and forgotten Rome cannot be said to have died or fallen. I take the stand Rome morphed into something else. If I had to give one answer to any question of why anything happens, it is God is sovereign and in control of history. All that happens is ultimately to achieve his ultimate goal the establishment of his kingdom.
