• Loaf Cake
  • 2 cups sugar
  
  
  • 2 sticks butter
  
  
  • 4 eggs
  
  
  • 1 cup milk
  
  
  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  
  Mix butter and sugar. Add 2 TBSP boiling water. Mix well.
  Add milk, flour and egg yolks.
  Beat egg whites stiff. Fold into mixture.
  Bake 1 hour at 350 in a tube cake pan or 35-40 minutes in loaf pans.
  Nutmeg Sauce
  
  • 2 cups water
  
  
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  
  
  • 3 TBSP flour
  
  
  • 2 TBSP butter
  
  
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  Mix the first 3 ingredients and bring to a boil. Boil the mixture for a few minutes, stirring constantly.
  Remove from heat; add butter and nutmeg, mixing well. Let cool a bit before pouring over cake and apples.
