the book leadership 101, Maxwell Lukado gives a clear decisive
method for making decisions in a Biblical manner. “If one lacks wisdom he
should ask God” (James 1:5).The Christian should begin every decision with
prayer. The prayer should be willing to trust God for answer and obey when God
reveals his plan (Maxwell, 2002). The Christian has to pray with faith that the
answer will be revealed “And we know in all things God works for the good of
those who love him and have been called according to his purpose” (Romans,
8:28). The individual asking for guidance when making a decision should clearly
define the decision being made and go to Gods word to see what is revealed
about the decision (Maxwell, 2002). The Bible states the word of God is a “lamp
to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm, 119:105, NIV). Then the Christian should
weigh all the options. Keep any options that follow Biblical principles and
eliminate any that stray away (Maxwell, 2002). Most moral decisions will be
easily arrived at others may require console from other Christians (Maxwell,
2002). The Bible states, “A wise man will hear and increase in learning and a
man off understanding will acquire wise counsel (Proverbs 1:5). The Christian
should list all the conclusions that follow Biblical principles and pray for
Gods guidance, be willing submit the decisions to God obey and trust Him his
will is what will happen.
When a
Christian makes decision, they must make choices that please God and fulfill
the spiritual priorities laid out in the Bible (Maxwell, 2002). When a
Christian follows Gods priorities for their life, they find joy, peace and
prosperity. All the decisions that are made by the Christian should be made
with Gods priorities not their own desires for success. The Bible does not
promise the Christian a live without a life of tribulation. Most often times
the Christian that is closes to Gods will has the most tribulation. When
Christians follow the will of God they are engaging in a Spiritual battle. It
is very important that God’s children stay close to him through Bible study,
prayer and fasting. Because of the evil nature of man, he must continually pray
for forgiveness, guidance and wisdom to carry out the will of God in his life.
Often times the desires of man are much different than the decisions of God
that is why it is important for the Christian leader must trust and obey.
