Philippians


The Genre of this book is epistle. The key theme of this book is living a life of joy and contentment through Christ despite your circumstances in this life. The main characters and event are as follows. Paul writes a letter of hope and encouragement to the Philippians that are facing great persecution. Paul writes from prison that even though his circumstance are bleak he finds great joy in serving the Lord no matter where he finds himself. Paul prays for the spiritual growth for the people of Philippians. He encourages the Philippians to be strong in their faith as they suffer for Christ. He employs them to encourage one another remember the example of Christ who gave up everything in sacrifice for the world. He tells them not to worry about anything but to pray for all their needs and thank God for everything. That through thanksgiving and prayer they will have the peace of God in their lives. This letters teaches people to live above everyday circumstances, and see the bigger picture the kingdom of God. That the believer can know that their future is secured in the Lord Jesus Christ. To seek first the kingdom of God and live above this world.
