The literary genres of this book are narrative and law. The theme of this book is; redemption and living in a relationship with God. It talks of God’s plan to restore the world back to fellowship and worship. A relationship with God begins with knowing who God is and understanding his nature. Through the laws given in this ancient text Israelites come to understand Gods expectations and a way to meet them in order to restore fellowship and become more like their creator. The key characters and events in the narrative include: Moses and the Israelites and God giving the chosen people instructions how to acceptably worship and fellowship with him. From these laws or instruction the Israelites learn of the very character, nature and holiness of God. The Israelites also learn how to become a nation that is harmonious through love for each other and service. They learn that God expects them to become holy and in is image.
