I saw a post that stated, "If it was a sin 100 years ago, it is still a sin today. Don't water down the gospel for this offended generation." Sadly, what I see today is that there is not just one generation that is easily offended. However, there is truth in that a sin is a sin is a sin. "The temptations in your life are no different than what others experience." 1 Corinthians 10:13
God's word remains the same too...as does His love and faithfulness. Why must he tell us repeatedly to be gentle? When sharing the gospel (1 Peter 3:16), when correcting our opponents (2 Tim. 2:24), when we catch someone in sin (Gal 6:1) - His words tell us, who are filled with His Spirit, to respond gently again and again. As we go about our days, let us be filled with His Spirit, so that when the troubles of this world and our circumstances squeeze us, or when social media posts or newscasts spur our flesh to be witty or snarky, instead, let us rely on His Spirit and allow what comes out of our mouths or on a SM post to be His fruit of gentleness.
"A gentle word turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Proverbs 15:1
