When chrome trim has alot of rusty patches on it. As always Grandma knows what to do. Take a peice of aluminum foil wrap a peice around your finger, shiny side out, rub the marks, then buff the chrome with a cotton cloth dipped in rubbing alcohol. When I was finished, the metal shone like a mirror.
