Coping with difficult people

I have been reading a book called the complete idiots guide to coping with difficult people. Here is some things that I have learned so far. " People who are liked do well in life. Research shows dealing well with people and being perceived as agreeable are critical factors when it comes to being hired or promoted. Likeablity helps us to lead" (Mathews, 2009, p. 276). Four attitudes have been statistically isolated that identify likeablity. The first attitude is connectiveness. Humans get a gut feeling about whether we like someone we meet in one-twenthieth of a second. People feel connected to you when they sense you are intresed in them as a individual. That you are concered about the same things they are concered about. Connectiveness comes down to giving people the message that you value them. If you value them they tend to value youl. The next attitude of likeablity is optimism. Sometimes being optimistic simply means expressing your faith that adversity can be handled with courage and grace
